Game Day

Teen Game Day for 6th - 12th graders will be held Friday, February 13 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M.  There’s no school, so invite your friends and come by the library to play Wii games, board games, and card games.  Registration is not required.  Just drop in to play.

Fall Programs

During our Books and Bites program last month, we discussed The Mysterious Benedict Society and made corner bookmarks.  Our next programs will be a jack-o-lantern carving program on Tuesday, October 28 and Books and Bites in November.  We hope to see you there!

 
Jack-o-lantern Carving 

Tuesday, October 28 at 4:30 and 6:30 P.M.
6th – 12th graders
The library will provide pumpkins for you to carve into jack-o-lanterns.  Registration is required by Saturday, October 25.  Please register here, call 734-439-1240, or stop by the library to register.

6th – 8th graders

Read Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix before the program.  Ask for a copy from the circulation desk or reserve a copy here or here.

During the program, we'll eat snacks, discuss the book, and participate in an activity related to the book.

Stuffed Animal Sitters

 

We have two Stuffed Animal Sitters opportunities for teens (6th - 12th graders) next week.  

 

Younger children will attend Stuffed Animal Sleepovers in the morning on Wednesday, August 20 and Friday, August 22.  Teens will come from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. on each of those days to "babysit" the stuffed animals.  You'll help them read their favorite books, play their favorite games, and explore the library.  You'll photograph their adventures for the children to see the next morning when they come to pick up their animals.

Spark a Reaction: Experiment and Explore

 

We have new activity logs filled with a variety of reading and science activities for you to explore throughout the rest of the summer.  Identify birds in your neighborhood, read a biography of a scientist, take a walk and observe nature around you, watch a science DVD, or more.  After you complete any 6 choices, you will receive a prize and enter the prize drawing.  

You may pick up a copy of the teen activity log from the library or see it here.

You will have until September 15 to receive prizes for this "end of summer" reading challenge. We hope you enjoy reading, experimenting, and exploring!

Summer Reading Program

Join us this summer to read, earn prizes, and attend programs at the library.  All 6th - 12th graders are invited to participate in our Teen Summer Reading Program.  See information about our children's program for toddlers through 5th graders here.

Friday, June 13 is the first day to pick up reading logs from the library and begin reading and/or listening to books.  Drop in between 10:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. on June 13 to get a balloon animal from Sparkles the Clown.

Programs for all ages include:

• Reading is Magic performance on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:30 A.M.
• Spectacular Science: Liquid Nitrogen on Tuesday, July 8 at 10:30 A.M.
• Joel's ScienceRific Comedy Show on Tuesday, August 12 at 10:30 A.M.

All three of these performances will be held in the Senior and Community Activity Center.

Teen Tuesdays will be held in the library.  Events include:
